Afsana Ahmed is a writer and educator born and raised in Queens, New York. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from the City College of New York. She is a fiction and screenwriter who was awarded the 2024 Henry Roth Memorial Prize and the 2024 Jerome Lowell Dejur Prize in Fiction. She is currently teaching Creative Writing at CUNY and working on a collection of short stories about Bangladeshi women, examining relationships between mothers and daughters.
